Micro Soccer is for the youngest players to have fun playing soccer while learning the basics of the game. We strive to teach the U4, U5, and U6 players sound fundamentals; dribbling, passing and shooting, in a fun environment with activities and drills appropriate for their age. SWSA has partnered with Global Premier Soccer (GPS) who provide vetted, capable trainers to interact with the players, even at this young age. GPS has a thorough curriculum designed to engage all levels of player for the youngest to those who want to play collegiately. SWSA’s strategic partnership with GPS provides a consistent program for your developing player.
Each Micro player will need to have some equipment in order to play. All players are required to wear shin pads to both practice and games, no exceptions; we take the safety of your children very seriously. Cleats are optional (for the outdoor seasons), and a size 3 ball is requested for the U4, U5, and U6 players. Each player is provided an SWSA t-shirt which should be worn on program days.
U4 and U5 First Touch
This program is designed to have the children learn to engage with the ball, a coach, and teammates. GPS runs this program, which includes a clinic/training session and then as the children progress a short scrimmage will conclude the session to give them a taste of the game and a chance to use their skills they are learning. The season is scheduled for 8 weeks. The program will meet one night during the week. Times and fields will be announced prior to the season. Each player is provided a SWSA t-shirt which should be worn on program days. We provide opportunities for this age group to play during the Fall and Spring seasons. For the fee schedule, please see the registration page.
U6 Micro Soccer
This program is designed to have the children continue to learn and improve on their skills and at this level add in the opportunity to have them compete against each other on a weekly basis through games. We provide opportunities for children to play in the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons, each 8 weeks in duration.
In the Fall season, the program involves two nights during the week for practice, one night is run by a GPS trainer and assisted by parent-coaches and the second night of practice will be run by each team’s individual coach. This program also includes a game on Saturday mornings. The games are coached by volunteer parent-coaches. Each player is provided a SWSA team t-shirt and a pair of shin guard socks to match their team color. Times and fields for practice and games will be announced prior to the season. For the fee schedule, please see the registration page.
