This program is designed to offer kids the opportunity to play a travel soccer format, but in a less competitive manner. It offers weekly coach practices hosted by a parent volunteer coach, and weekly training sessions held by one of our professional trainers. 7v7 games with goalies are played on the weekends, using a coach-referee format. Seasons are held in both the Fall and Spring, and consist of 8 weeks.
The U9-10 Rec program is intended to offer gender-specific teams for both boys and girls. However, teams may be coed if needed based on our registration numbers for the season. The ages are combined into U9-10 boys and U9-10 girls teams. SWSA partners with the towns of Franklin Township, Harrison, Pennsville, South Harrison, and Woodstown, to play games on Saturday mornings in the Fall and Sunday mornings in the Spring. Games locations vary throughout the seasons, as this is considered a local rec-travel league. Participants may expect an equal number of home and away games.
A SWSA jersey and socks are provided for each participant. Players should have shin guards and a size 4 ball. Black shorts are recommended for games, to complete the uniform.
Our Rec program relies heavily on volunteers, to support the teams and participants. There are no fixed coaches in place, like the travel teams. Parents are highly encouraged to volunteer as head coach, assistant coach, or team parent. A thorough knowledge of soccer is not required to make this a worthwhile experience for the kids. Our professional trainers can assist with practice/coaching plans, if needed. Should there be no volunteers for a particular team or age group, the season may be cancelled and a refund issued. Or a trainer may be hired to coach the team, at additional cost above the registration fee. This would be reviewed with each parent for consent.
